November 14 Launch Cancelled

Sunday’s forecast reads “Variably cloudy with snow showers. High 38F. Winds WSW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Higher wind gusts possible.”

Unfortunately, we’re going to have to cancel our November 14 launch.

We’ll keep an eye on the November 21 forecast (which currently isn’t great), but it’s likely our 2021 flying season is over.  🙁

October 17 Launch Report

Our October 17 launch was a great success. Twenty-two flyers posted 74 flights yesterday at the Hughes Farm under somewhat breezy but sunny conditions. Jeff Kajtsa was again top flyer with 11 flights. Bob Kaplow remains our overall 2021 flight leader with 57. Thanks to Bob Zurek and Mark Bundick for running the range, Bob Kaplow for our HPR launch system, and Philip Nubel for assistance in doing a certification flight. Our 572 total flights for the year leaves us 29 flights short of tying FVR’s all-time record of 601. Come on out for our last launch of the year on Sunday, November 14 and help us break that record!

October 17 Launch is GO!

We are GO for launch tomorrow.

Please only access the gravel lane from Dimmel Road as there are some wet spots that may not be dry.

If you encounter a wet spot, please go around it on the grass.

Don’t go past the orange cone half way down the lane.  If there’s no cone out there Sunday then it’s OK to exit out Hughes Road end.

Please keep under 10 mph.

Current forecast is sunny with WNW winds between 10 and 12 MPH.

May 8 Launch Report

Our May 8 launch at the Hughes Farm site was good.  FVR’ers posted a total of 88 flights.  Ed McCarthy led all flyers with 10 flights. Thanks to Bob Kaplow, Bob Zurek and Mark “Bunny” Bundick who took turns running the range.  Thanks to Bob Kaplow for bringing his HPR launch system.Â
