Information relevant to our launches
We are go to launch at the Hughes Farm launch site on Saturday, 9 am – 1 pm. The waiver has been activated and HPR flights are available up to 6,000 AGL.
WET FIELD PROTOCOL IS IN EFFECT. DO NOT USE THE GRAVEL ROAD AS IT IS EXTREMELY ROUGH AND WET. THE OWNER WILL CONSIDER DISCONTINUING OUR USE OF THIS FIELD IF ANYONE USES THE GRAVEL ROAD.
We will be flying from the west side of the field (Dimmel Road). Winds are forecast to be 8-10 MPH from the south, so plan your flights accordingly.
Winds are forecast to be over Safety Code limits (with snow showers), so we are cancelling the Saturday, April 1 launch.
Saturday’s forecast reads “Winds NW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 100%. 1 to 3 inches of snow expected. Higher wind gusts possible.”
Our March 25 launch is cancelled.
Due to field conditions and Sunday’s forecast, we are cancelling the March 12 Fox Valley Rocketeers Launch.
The Fox Valley Rocketeers closed out our 2022 flying season with 53 flights at the Hughes Farm. Mike Moran led all flyers with 11, followed closely by Jeff Kajtsa with 10.
For the season, Mike again led all flyers with 62 flights, followed by Pete Kazawski with 50 and John Ager with 47.
Congrats are also due for Julian Wisniewski and John Agar for successful NAR Level 1 HPR certification flights.
Finally, thanks to Ed Chess, Bob Zurek, Kurt Gunther, Bob Kaplow and Phil Nubel for range support.
We look forward to more fun rocket flying in 2023! On to the winter building season!
