We don’t have confirmation that the Hughes Farm field is dry enough for us to use. March 20 launch is cancelled. Our next scheduled launch is next Saturday, March 27, 9:00 AM, at our Davis Road / Kishwaukee Park launch site. Hope to see you there.
Due to extremely wet field conditions, our planned March 13 launch has been postponed a week to March 20. It’s possible that conditions will still be too wet for us to use the Hughes Farm launch site, so please check back next week to confirm that the launch will proceed.
Our October 11 launch was graced with decent weather and the wide-open spaces of our Hughes Farm launch site. Eighteen flyers posted 112 flights, tying our highest single day flying total from 2008. Ed McCarthy led the pack with 21 flights. For the year, we have a dead heat for flying leader, with Kurt Gunther and Bob Kaplow’s 49 flights, followed closely by Ed McCarthy with 48. As a club, we now have 470 flights total, second place in club history (558 flights in 2009). Our final launch will be November 15. Hope to see you all there to close out our 2020 flying season!
The Fox Valley Rocketeers closed our our 2020 flying at Kishwaukee Park yesterday with 71 flights. We were led by Ed McCarthy who somehow managed to post 17 flights. For the year overall, Kurt Gunther maintains a 1 flight lead over Bob Ka’pla, 43 to 42. Join us next month at our Hughes Seed Farm site. And remember, the launches shift to Sunday afternoons.
