McHenry County is now reporting the highest number of COVID cases per 100k population in the history of the pandemic.
Thus, we are cancelling tomorrow’s planned building session at Woodstock North High School.
Sunday, December 12 Launch CANCELLED!
Due to wet field conditions and the wind forecast (17 MPH with gusts over 30 MPH), we are cancelling tomorrow’s launch.
See you in 2022!
November 21 Launch Attempt CANCELLED
The wind forecast for a possible launch this Sunday shows wind gusts in excess of Safety Code limits. There will not be a launch this Sunday.
If we manage to schedule any additional 2021 launches, we’ll post an announcement here and on our Facebook page.
November 14 Launch Cancelled
Sunday’s forecast reads “Variably cloudy with snow showers. High 38F. Winds WSW at 15 to 25 mph. Chance of snow 50%. Higher wind gusts possible.”
Unfortunately, we’re going to have to cancel our November 14 launch.
We’ll keep an eye on the November 21 forecast (which currently isn’t great), but it’s likely our 2021 flying season is over. 🙁
October 17 Launch Report
Our October 17 launch was a great success. Twenty-two flyers posted 74 flights yesterday at the Hughes Farm under somewhat breezy but sunny conditions. Jeff Kajtsa was again top flyer with 11 flights. Bob Kaplow remains our overall 2021 flight leader with 57. Thanks to Bob Zurek and Mark Bundick for running the range, Bob Kaplow for our HPR launch system, and Philip Nubel for assistance in doing a certification flight. Our 572 total flights for the year leaves us 29 flights short of tying FVR’s all-time record of 601. Come on out for our last launch of the year on Sunday, November 14 and help us break that record!
